Container Park In Las Vegas
We were recently at a conference in Las Vegas and decided to duck out on some of the container conference fun to check out the Container Park. The Container Park is a complex with stores, restaurants, cafes, bars and other businesses housed in modified shipping containers and located a few blocks past the end of the Fremont Experience in Las Vegas. The park leases space to local small businesses whom provides goods and services that fits the neighborhood needs of downtown Las Vegas.
Super Cubes had nothing to do with the building of it. However as an active player in the container industry, we do know the individuals who worked hard to make the park a reality.
The last time I was there, it was a week before it opened. My husband and I were able to sneak in with the help of a security guard to snap a few pictures of it. The park at that time was not opened yet to the public, so the whole rest of the conference attendees could only buzz with excitement about the opening of park. Everyone else was disappointed they didn’t get to go in. This time around, we were happy to be able to go in and enjoy everything it has to offer!
At the entrance of the park is a huge praying mantis standing guard outside that plays music and occasionally, lets out smoke. Behind the praying mantis is a bright orange container on the second level with cut-out letters spelling out, “Container Park”. You can go up in that container and look down at the entryway.
Containers and stick-built construction make up the general square with businesses facing into the middle of the space. There is also a huge playground made up of containers that is suitable for both adults and kids to walk and play on. You will see some are turned up on their sides to create towers.
There are also multiple levels and plenty of patios and balconies throughout the park. So, there is a ton of outdoor space for visitors to explore. On the far end, there is a stage for performances and events. Plenty of events are held there, which could be checked out on the Container Park website.
We were there on a quiet Wednesday night, so there were not any events going on. We wandered through the playground and took in the many container shops around us. The park itself truly has a distinctly different, calmer feel than much of the rest of the touristy areas in Las Vegas. It does not have the bright light intensity of the Fremont Experience and the over-the-top feeling of the strip. It is a place where restaurants and bars focus on providing good foods, drinks and great atmosphere. The stores within the park sell more unique wares than the usual touristy shops, which is great for finding a one of kind souvenir. We found it is appealing to both tourists and the locals at the same time.
If you find yourself in Las Vegas and want to try out something completely different, pop on over to the Container Park. In the meantime, keep scrolling down to see more of the area and all the cool container modifications!
