Eating Out of the Box - A Container Market Goes Global — Super Cubes

Market 707 in Toronto is a container market.  Stalls sell primarily street food, but also art, a bike parts and repair shop and various changing projects.  I happened to be in Toronto last week and thought I’d drop in and see a container market first-hand.

The market is made up of several containers in front of the Scadding Court Community Centre.  Most of them have multiple stalls in each container, painted in fun colors and selling street food from around the world. Most of the stalls have chairs and tables in front of them, making the market a great food destination.

Kitchen Cargo serves up pot pies and tacos

We decided on trying out pork belly tacos and chicken pot pie from Kitchen Cargo and Aaron Turner, the owner of Mac’n gave us a free sample of his best-selling Italian sausage mac’ n cheese.  Both stalls are absolutely worth the trip to the market.  The food was out of this world.

I asked them both about working out of a container and they both liked it.  Kitchen Cargo has an end stall, so they have doors that open to the outside to let in more air when things heat up inside.  Mac’n’s stall has a half-door next to the counter, so it is easy for him to come out and mingle with customers.
